apple expert... I think not!

* You are chatting with **, an Apple Expert

Hi, my name is Yolanda. Welcome to Apple!

You: Hello
You: I'm looking for a modem adapter
**: Good afternoon.
**: How may I help you today?
You: I cannot find it on the website
You: it's a usb to phone line adapter
**: I will get it for you.
**: One moment.
You: super
**: USB adapter...click here
You: no, that's ETHERNET not for telephone line
You: I was able to find that one, but need the on to be able to use the computer as a fax
**: One moment.
**: This is the only product that we have in the inventory currently.
**: Do you have a Best Buy or Radio Shack nearby?
You: I have purchased this item before from an Apple store
You: about one year ago
**: From a local Apple store?
You: yes
**: The local store's inventory does not match what we sell online.
You: but if you manufacture this adapter, why would you not sell it online?
You: it is an actual apple product, not another brand
You: it's specificlly for the iMac or laptop
**: Would you like to call the Apple Store to see if they have it in stock?
You: NO. I need to find a link to one and ship it to someone in another state that does not have an apple store near them. I just want to give them the link so they can get one.
**: Can I get you the number to AppleCare, there are some parts that can sell that is not in the online store?
You: I will call my local store and have them help me. I'm confident they will be albe to find it for me. Thank you.
**: Thanks, we simply do not have that item in our inventory currently.
You: That makes no sense whatsoever

There is so much wrong with this chat, I just don't even know where to begin.  How is it possible that the online apple store doesn't carry something simple like a usb/modem adapter when the iMac doesn't come equipped with a phone jack?  I know there are people in the world who still fax, though not many, and people that still have dial up, kill me now, but come on!  Really?

the shield

I'm loving my new "shield" for the iPhone 3Gs!  I had a similar one for my first gen phone, but was having a hard time finding the same thing for the new body.  I found a clear plastic one at the Apple store but thought it made the phone look cheap.  Thank goodness for Amazon ... I scoured the reviews and found this to be the highest rated of this style of cover.  Pick yours up here!

surfing in style

Got my iPhone on Friday - went early and waited in line for about an hour and a half to actually get it from the Apple store.  I pre-ordered the phone and they said you could pick it up anytime during the day... I wasn't gonna risk it giving the language in the email ("based on availability" they said).  It wasn't horrible and they had free Starbucks tea and coffee for everyone. I am just loving the upgrade!  I'm glad I waited for this one.. now what to do with my first gen phone??  Everything on it still works except the phone.  Do I keep it as back up?  Do I sell it?  Tough choice! The copy and paste rocks, the camera is so awesome - that you can choose a focal point and it does some white balancing - wow!  Loving the voice memo and that you can email the voice memo to yourself or someone!  Loving the shake to shuffle action and the voice controls... "play Dave Matthews Band" - it starts playing music by Dave Matthews Band.  This is total James Bond,  mind blowing stuff!  And, most of all, the SPEED!  I knew the 3G was supposed to be way better than the Edge, but there is simply no comparison.  Ahhh... I just love a new gadget!  ;)
