samedi dans le marais

I shot a few frames while Brooke and I waited for Karen to shop in the Marais.  It's such a cute, arty part of town and was super close to our apartment.  Thought I'd stitch these photos together for a baby video.  Fun old shcool effects in iMovie applied... enjoy.

I figured I would use my week at home to finish up my photo editing from Paris and Amsterdam. I have SO many photos to edit it's been quite a chore. I'd like to make a book and in order to do that, I have to get everything edited and in one place. Not sure why I've been so scattered with this photo journey, but I have a whole week to reorganize!

Still working my way through photos from my trip. This is one of the ceilings inside the Louvre. Now I wouldn't want this in my home, but it's simply stunning. That's the thing about the Louvre and why it takes so long to get through - every surface has something amazing to see.

The Sartorialist: On the Street....Left Bank, Paris

So I've been cruising fashion blogs - looking for inspiration... you know it's what women do. I love this blog and how they post amazing looks on men and women from the world's most fashionable cities. How stunning is this woman???  I love the red on her - makes me want brown hair.  lol

before and after

I was chatting with my coworkers the other day about my photos of the Louvre (now my desktop images) and they were inquiring if it "really looked like that?"  My reply is always yes, but not nearly as vibrant and colorful.  They thought it would be good to see the unprocessed vs. the processed.  So here goes.

Unprocessed - right from camera - this is the actual color, pretty drab and monotone

Processed - used one of my flickr contacts actions to pull the colors out of the data (advantages of shooting RAW)

While the first is nice, the bottom just has more sparkle don't you think?

I know it seems like the photos from Paris are endless... that's because they are. I took a ton and am still working my way through processing them. Just started on Amsterdam last night. That's the problem with being "into" photography, you're never happy with what comes out of the camera. A little tweak here and there to get it just right. Ugh!

I'll probably make a book out of these, any suggestions on services? I've used Blurb (good except for black and white images), Apple via iPhoto (was actually impressed with that one) and My Publisher (turned out really nice, but I'm bound to templates)... any others??

This shot was taken for Karen who was just loving the moody moon with the clouds and the sign. She couldn't capture it with her point & shoot, so I sat the tripod down and shot a few frames.  I am pretty happy with how it came out.  I hope she is too...
