low beams

Another image from the drive this morning... this one is a pretty good representation of what the scene really was. I don't know why I was into this fog so much, but I was really loving it. Lucky to have been in the right place at the right time. What would have been totally amazing is if I could have pulled off the road to sit out there the whole day and do a time-lapse - oh man that would have been so cool!

fooooooog

Had a meeting in the ' burbs this morning and saw some of the coolest fog rollin through the forest preserves.  It was low, winding through the trees and looked like a secne from a movie.  I wish I could get a good still photo of how it looked, but I just could not find the right angle or exposure or whatever to really capture the way it felt.

It was all due to this strange weather we're having - 50 degrees with rain so this steam was rolling up from the left over snow.  It was just soooooo cool!

foggy

Had a photoblogger meet up this morning in the south loop area - good to see the guys again. Kind of a crap day for photos tho... I got a fun snap on my way to meet everyone, but nothing of substance while we were walking around. We ventured to the Maxwell St market and that was quite the experience. Some VERY random items being sold there...

I didn't really feel comfortable busting out the camera for fear that I'd get yelled at by one of the vendors... We did find an interesting grouping of signs at the back of an empty parking lot. I have no idea what these are actually for though. I had to really pull the color out of this one - taken with the new S90 - I feel like it's a little on the "sharp" side, I need to figure out how to change a setting or run some noise ninja on the images. Testing Lightroom 3 beta and it's a smidge different from 1.0 that I've been so used to...

Anyhoo, I can check another thing off of the "I've never done that" list. I've heard about the Maxwell Market, but have just never gone. Don't think I will ever have the need to go back, but you just never know!

girl on the go

8:52 weeks of self portraits

I feel like all I've done this week is go go go go go. Work has been kicking my butt and I've been trying to balance the work stuff with the fun stuff... the scales are not very even, but I'm trying.

I managed to grab dinner and attend my first Northwestern Univ. basketball game (thanks Amanda!). That was the extent of my fun for the week... Working today, meeting up with the Chicago photobloggers in the morning then more work in the afternoon.

On a positive note... I've invested in the Canon S90 so I could have RAW in a pocket cam. So far I'm pretty impressed. I stood in Best Buy for a good 20 minutes playing with the S90 and the G11 - it was so hard to choose. The G11 has a couple extra features that I really liked, but I need the portability so the S90 seemed to fit the bill!

photo pfunk

Yvette is frustrated with her photo skills as of late. I took the time to go out and shoot along the lakefront at dusk and am totally not happy with any of it. I feel like I have noise in every single photo and that nothing is in proper focus. I don't know if I'm using the wrong settings or exposures or what, but it's frustrating as hell. I'm beginning to think it might be time to go take a class. A proper photography class to actually learn how to use my camera. Self taught seems to only be getting me so far....

It's sad that I take better photos with my iPhone than with my 40D!

yffoto.com :: waiting

I have taken many trains between cities in Europe and actually really love that mode of travel. Watching the landscape go by is wonderful.

Here I sit in Chicago's Union Station, no bags and nowhere to go. Maybe one day I will actually pack a bag and hop on one of those trains...

yffoto.com :: bokeh bokeh

After a day of fun with the girls in the loop, I strapped on my snow pants and headed for the lakefront for some icy Chicago photos along Fullerton beach. As the sun went down and the lights started to pop, I went out of focus ... Chicago. She's so pretty.
